Brad Keyes, CHSP, Consultant
Brad Keyes is a consultant to healthcare organizations specializing in safety management. His expertise lies in the Management of the Life Safety Program, which also includes the Environment of Care and Emergency Management programs. He analyzes and develops leadership effectiveness and efficiency in work processes. This work focuses on assessing an organization’s preparedness for survey, evaluating processes in achieving preparedness, and guiding organizations towards compliance.
Mr. Keyes’ clients have included insurance underwriter groups, hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and large integrated systems across the country. He has been effective in training large groups as well as meeting one-on-one with healthcare leaders. This work has involved organizational assessment; management training; the ongoing coaching of task groups; and extensive, one-on-one coaching of facility leaders. He presents at national seminars, regional conferences and on audio-conferences. Mr. Keyes also teaches the Life Safety Boot Camps series to various groups and organizations.
Prior to joining The Greeley Company, Mr. Keyes worked in the healthcare field in different capacities for over 30 years, most recently in the position of Safety Officer for a large mid-west hospital. He also was one of the original Life Safety Code Specialist surveyors for The Joint Commission, and has over three years of experience of hospital accreditation surveys.
Among his many publishing credits, include a guide to the Joint Commission standards entitled Life Safety Compliance Manual; a variety of articles addressing features of life safety, and fire protection; and white papers and articles on the Building Maintenance Program. Mr. Keyes is currently the Contributing Technical Editor of the monthly newsletterHealthcare Life Safety Compliance, and he is certified as a Healthcare Safety Professional by the Board of Certified Healthcare Safety Management.
Steven MacArthur, Consultant
Steven A. MacArthur has worked in the healthcare environmental services and safety fields for more than 30 years, including more than 20 years in acute care hospitals. He is a safety consultant in the accreditation and regulatory compliance division at The Greeley Company, a division of HCPro, Inc., in Marblehead, MA, where he conducts on-site safety assessments, educational programs, and regulatory survey preparation for safety leaders.
Mr. MacArthur consults and lectures on The Joint Commission’s Environment of Care, Life Safety Code, and Emergency Management standards, The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) physical environment Conditions of Participation, as well as on guidelines and regulations from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Environmental Protection, and the Department of Public Health. He works with hospitals, physician practices, ambulatory care, long-term care, home care, and behavioral health facilities in preparing for and responding to Joint Commission/CMS accreditation and OSHA compliance surveys.
