Amid ongoing concerns regarding the containment of the COVID-19 virus and a continued focus on hand hygiene, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has enacted provisions for temporary compounding of hand sanitizer by pharmacists in State-licensed pharmacies and Federal facilities. However, the compounding of hand sanitizer must be in strict accordance with the guidance provided by the FDA, consistent with World Health Organization recommendations, and using United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) grade ingredients. As a service to our clients, The Greeley Company offers this guidance from the FDA and USP to assist you in your evaluations of this practice.
