Simplify & Comply Greeley Premium Learning Series
Hospitals across the country find themselves in jeopardy of losing accreditation or Medicare certification due to perceived shortcomings in their suicide assessment or suicide precautions, especially in the emergency department. We expect this focus to continue in 2019 as the Joint Commission rolls out new elements of performance for National Patient Safety Goal 15 (currently slated to go into effect on January 1).
This session of the ‘Simplify and Comply’ Greeley Training series will discuss common sense solutions for suicide screening, suicide assessment, and suicide precautions with special emphasis on the emergency department and general acute care units (e.g. critical care, med-surg tele). We will discuss the appropriate use of the Columbia system for identifying suicidality and successful, compliant approaches to protecting high-risk patients.
Available for download will be sample policies and procedure, a guideline describing levels of behavioral observation, simplified suicide screening questions, a sample suicide risk assessment tool, and a tool for safety inspections. We will also offer sample slides for the training of hospital personnel.
