Infection Prevention: Guiding Hospitals Toward Effective, Compliant, and Sustainable Solutions

Clinical Quality Insights

It seems that all regulatory roads lead to infection prevention and control. Infections remain the most important preventable cause of avoidable hospital-related deaths, with billions of Medicare dollars spent each year treating infectious illnesses acquired during the hospital stay. Infections hamper efficient patient flow, and the cadence of novel infections is accelerating. Many hospitals experience shortfalls in reimbursement due to Medicare “HAC” (Hospital Acquired Conditions) and other penalties. The Joint Commission just issued a major rewrite of its Infection Prevention chapter on the heels of CMS's 2020 revision to the hospital Conditions of Participation.

Our webinar faculty has almost 100 years of combined experience meeting the infection prevention challenge. Attendees will:

  • Discover a strategy to implement the July 2024 changes in TJC's Infection Prevention chapter
  • Optimize infection prevention staffing and organization
  • Respond to and avoid CMS Immediate Jeopardy and TJC Immediate Threat to Health or Safety findings during survey
  • Implement successful strategies to reinforce expectations and change practices at the point of care and service
