Stephanie Russell, BS, CPMSM, CPCS

Stephanie Russell, BS, CPMSM, CPCS, Consultant with Greeley on the credentialing team brings over 35 years of experience as an executive medical services professional. Her extensive experience includes leadership of medical staff services in hospital settings of every type, from critical access to university settings, with responsibilities that included credentialing and privileging, medical staff bylaws governance, medical education, regulatory compliance with DNV, Joint Commission and NCQA, delegated credentialing and leadership orientation at all levels.  

Prior to joining Greeley, Stephanie worked at UCHealth in Colorado, UWHealth in northern Illinois and OSF Healthcare Systems. She was instrumental in streamlining credentialing processes across facilities and between provider enrollment and medical staff office departments and her focus is process improvement. Stephanie also led collaboration amongst three health systems in northern Illinois to align medical staff privileging and policies to improve collegiality and consistency in the region.  Creating a regional cohort of professionals in medical services also lead to improved relations across health systems, large groups and medical clinics.  She successfully lead numerous Joint Commission and DNV surveys and created NCQA compliant credentialing delegation processes.

In addition, Stephanie was a National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Instructor for ten years and served as a Member at Large on the NAMSS Board of Directors.  She was elected to the Illinois Association Medical Staff Services (IAMSS) Board of Directors for over ten years, serving as President for three years. Stephanie has over 15 years’ experience in providing education in the medical staff services and healthcare arenas, speaking at several state and national seminars on topics that include professional development, credentialing and a variety of topics related to medical staff services.  She is the co-author of several versions of the industry reference related to accreditation standards; “Verify and Comply, Credentialing, Medical Staff and Ambulatory Care Standards” including the recently published 10th edition.

Stephanie received her bachelor’s in science from Rockford University with honors. She is certified as a medical services professional (CPMSM) and credentialing specialist (CPCS) by the National Association of Medical Staff Services.
